Reclaiming his territory after relinquishing it for four years, Caloy Yulo delivered a tour-de-force performance to capture the floor exercise gold medal in the Doha, Qatar stage of the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Series on Friday.

Yulo bedazzled the field as he garnered 14.833 that came from 8.333 on execution and 6.5 on degree of difficulty to claim his first mint in the world stage since reigning supreme in the World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany four years ago.

He left everybody breathless with his spectacular effort and the field, headed by eventual silver and bronze medalists Japanese Kazuki Minami (14.200) and British Luke Whitehouse (13.966), was reduced to ashes.

Olympic gold medalist Artem Dolgopyat of Israel, the winner in the first leg in Cottbus, Germany less than a week ago who topped the qualification round, skipped the finals due to a knee injury and was spared of the embarrassment of succumbing to Yulo’s glorious performance.

Yulo could add two more gold as he was battling against the world’s best in the parallel bars and vault where he was No. 1 in both apparatuses entering the medal round.

The Lord of the manor has returned.
