Gawilan warming up in Para Swim Worlds

The Philippines’ Ernie Gawilan finished 12th in the 50-meter butterfly in 35.05 seconds in the London World Para Swimming Allianz Championships 2019 Monday night.

Gawilan, a Para Asian Games gold medalist, used this event as a warm up to his favorite 400m freestyle set Tuesday.

“This is not his event yet. We just fielded him so that he won’t be vacant for this particular day,” said Philippine coach Tony Ong referring to Gawilan.

Gawilan and Gary Bejino are both seeking Paralympics berths while using this as part of their preparation for the ASEAN Para Games set in New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac in January next year.
