13 Mar Carlos Edriel Yulo shines in Baku with two gold medals
Filipino dynamo Carlos Yulo made the country proud anew as he copped two gold medals in the FIG Individual Apparatus World Cup Series in Baku, Azerbaijan Sunday, March 12.
Yulo, 22, was atop everyone in parallel bars where he scored 15.400, 8.900 coming from execution and 6.5 from the level of difficulty.
His biggest victim in that apparatus was 19-year-old Ukrainian Illia Kovtun, the gold winner in Cottbus, Germany and Doha, Qatar who settled for the silver with a 15.366.
The next day, the two-time world champion made it a golden double with a triumph in vault where he had an average total score of 14.933 from his two attempts that earned scores of 15.033 and 14.833.
It was another proud moment from the proud son of Leveriza in Manila as he had now raked in a total of three gold including in floor exercise in Doha and a silver and bronze in parallel bars in Cottbus and Doha.
Yulo will also gun for more glory as he will also compete in the fourth and final edition in Cairo, Egypt from April 27 to 30.
His recent events are part of his training calendar as he eyes nothing but the gold in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
